MOTHER: veronica avery, forty six, mother, unemployed
SIBLING(S): only child
OTHER: adele avery, would be seventy, paternal grandmother, deceased
BLOOD STATUS: pureblood
BIOGRAPHY: before little genevieve avery came into the picture, there were two slytherins. veronica and alexander. the two slytherins met early around the ages of eleven and twelve, but were never really friends. in his final year, alexander asked veronica out on a date and they fell in love after several months of dating. after hogwarts, they were married young, at twenty one and twenty, and waited a few years before having children. finally, veronica avery became pregnant. the two were both, surprisingly, happy about it. while they both came from mostly cold hearted, death eater, slytherin families, the couple both wanted a family.
early in the morning of january twenty third, genevieve grace avery was born, greeting the world she would grow up in kicking and screaming. her mother was exhausted, but the baby proved to be perfectly heathly. she finally calmed down enough and soon was silent and peaceful. after spending the night at the hospital, gen was taken home with beaming parents. alexander was actually thrilled to have a daughter. she would have a perfect childhood, a mother to teach her all she needed to know, and, of course, he would be able to spoil his little girl and show her off.
princess genevieve avery grew up in the avery estate, a grand home where she could have whatever she wanted, when she wanted, and do what she pleased. she was spoiled by her parents and had the priviliged childhood not many receive. all of her family, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, simply adored her, as did her parents. gen was just so happy all the time, so sweet, and rarely cried or threw a fit.
on her eighth birthday, her mother became determined to change the more tomboyish, always laughing genevieve avery into a proper, ladylike pureblood young witch. and so her lessons in etiquette, pureblood families, various magical things, among others began. gen endured almost three years of these lessons and all the parties and such that she was forced to go to so her parents could show her off. gen's only escape from it was when she went to visit her lonely grandmother twice a week, when her mother was out doing shopping and such. her father disliked his mother, but only let her go because he wouldn't leave his daughter home with the house elf. adele avery couldn't be more different than veronica and her son, and gen adored her grandmother. but veronica was determined to teach her everything she knew. clothing, manners, how to be successful, the list went on and on. gen hated the lessons, but couldn't do anything about it.
so naturally genevieve was thrilled when the expected letter from hogwarts arrived on her eleventh birthday. she could finally escape from the place that had been hell for her for three years! thrilled for her, her parents bought her more than she needed to go to school and then she was off to start her education at hogwarts. but more than anything else she was nervous about the sorting. what if she disappointed her parents by being sorted into gryffindor or hufflepuff? those two were the terrible houses according to her parents. after worrying about it the entire train ride, but it was gen's turn to sit underneath the sorting hat, one of the first. her sorting took a rather long time, longer than it did for most of the others after her, but it shocked her when she heard the name called. ravenclaw.
ravenclaw? she hadn't known much about the house, other than it was where the smartest people in hogwarts lived. that had to be good, didn't it? ravenclaws weren't useless or muggle lovers as far as she knew. but she could already see the disappointment on her parent's face and just knew that her parents wouldn't be as happy about her sorting as they could have been. and after her first year, when she went home for the summer, her parents acted less comfortable around her than before. her mother said she wanted her daughter switched to slytherin, but it wasn't allowed. from then on, gen spent the summer having the pureblood ideals pressed on her, trying to see how she would act all summer. it wasn't until genevieve finally said that she would do her parents proud in ravenclaw, that her parents relaxed a bit, and weren't angry anymore - just waiting to see how she would do.
and so her years at hogwarts passed, while her parents were always a bit disappointed. she made her friends, the ones that managed to get past the slightly reserved, slightly snobby attitude she had gained from being so spoiled, and all the lessons of her mother. inside there was always a kinder, out going, loyal friend. she graduated hogwarts with excellent, perfect marks. as soon as she could, gen went straight to applying to being an auror. she was accepted into training and actually finished earlier than most. now, genevieve avery is an auror for the ministry, she is extremely hardworking, and is very good at her job. she has a boyfriend, a good job, friends, and she pretty much loves her life, though she still strives to please her parents. but now, gen is facing her one of her biggest challenges at work - becoming a double agent and having to pretend to join the rebels.

the temper of claire peirce was legendary. well, it should be. it was around hogwarts, at the least. people just generally didn't want to anger claire because, well, if you did, you know that there was always the possibility that you very might end up in the hospital wing. even if you did, you would have taken a verbal lashing, walking away from her anger with a very bruised ego. claire was better than the bitchiest slytherins at humiliating people (as some of those slytherins probably know oh so well). claire knows she could be a bitch, and she didn't like the fact. just caught up in her anger, claire almost always forgets that she always promises herself not to be too horrible. only if the person deserves it. oh, and claire is so self centered as well. when she's angry (and often at the other times), claire seems to think that she'll definitely end up winning, because, well, she thinks she the best. but now, it just wasn't applying to her feelings at the moment. right now, claire was purely angry.
"yes, i know claire. you don’t really catch sarcasm, do you?" claire looked at him furiously, though she herself couldn't believe that in her anger, she hadn't caught the fact the he was kidding. she just had known he was lying. she rolled her eyes at him, deciding not to reply to that. but his next words hit her like a slap in the face. "claire, honestly. you’re not my mother so why do i have to tell you anything? that’s right i don't." his tone was as angry as she had felt up until now. it made claire glance down, feeling just a bit guilty at the way she was acting. sirius hadn't spoken to her like that in years, not since one of the times she had nearly gotten him expelled. the thought didn't make her amused one bit, which was a first. her mind often wandered during their rare fights, but now she was just focusing on this, and the fact that she didn't know how to feel about it. "ever stop to think that i didn’t tell you because you might not believe me? claire muttered halfheartedly, "yeah, well, does your mother know, then, sirius?"
claire blushed, which was rare for her, to actually be embarrassed. and the cause of her embarrassment was sirius potter, no less. he had always had a way to made her feel guilty if he was angry enough, and right now she felt really bad as she looked at her feet, the wall, the stairs. well, anywhere but looking at him in the face. finally, claire raised her gaze to look at him, her glare not quite there in full force anymore. instead, she just seemed annoyed and actually confused. claire was quick to cover it up, however. "well, i'm so sorry, sirius," claire snapped back at him, ignoring her embarrassment as much as she could. sirius would find that hilarious, she was sure. "i just wanted to know why my best friend was lying to me! for god's sake, sirius! you've been lying to me for months. months! just because i'm not your mother doesn't mean i don't have a right to know what you're hiding from me? have you been planning to tell me at all?" claire's already loud voice rose quickly, getting up to a shriek, as it did when she was particularly upset. after a pause, claire dropped her voice, taking a deep breath in an attempt to fully calm herself down. "how would you feel if i did that to you? wouldn't you be mad?!"
her brown eyes glared up angrily at him, as she was done with her small little rant, expecting an answer, though she didn't quite care at this point. she looked down again, staring at the stone floor. her anger was mostly gone, though her irritation at sirius was still present. lying was one of the things she hated the most, and sirius rarely lied to her. and she knew this was something big. underlying her anger was the feeling that, well, sirius had betrayed her in a way. the hurt was there, definitely. claire didn't have many close friends that she absolutely trusted, and sirius was probably up at the top of her list. sure, they sometimes argued, but they had known each other for fifteen years, and they hadn't had a fight this big for ages. the arguments usually ended in sirius backing down, or the two just giving up. having that feeling of hurt was something that was new to her. and quite honestly, claire was really confused and just a bit nervous about the fact that sirius had done this to her.
claire watched her best friend as she was still trying to figure out her feelings, her mind losing to a hopeless battle. his words about insulting him hit her as there was a twinge of regret in her for how she was acting. she did know he was not an idiot (though whether or not that was all the time was a different story, in her opinion), and insulting him was pointless because all it did was make him angry. claire looked down, feeling sorry. that was a form of self defense for her. when angry, insult. when not feeling comfortable with a situation, she also tended to get rude. her cheeks went a hot as she blushed. sirius, no matter how much he lied to her, was still her best friend, and he didn't deserve this treatment. "sirius, i'm sorry." her voice was soft, and she wasn't sure if he heard her at all. those three words were usually impossible for her to say, due to the fact that she usually could never admit defeat, never admit that she was wrong.
he. had. a. secret. girlfriend. the news washed over her quickly, as did her confusion in a whole new wave. and he never told her. "sirius? it came out like a question and she rushed on before she could stop herself. she wanted this fight to be over. fighting with sirius was awful. her voice quiet again, claire continued on a bit quickly, "you're my best friend, how could you not tell me? if it's a girl you actually care for - which, no offense, would take me a bit of time to believe - i don't think i would care who you date. if you had told me all that time ago, i wouldn't have told anyone, i swear." claire finally looked up at him again, carefully keeping her emotions off her face. however, a bit of her hopefulness did come through, showing in her ever-expressional eyes. yes, she was still annoyed, but she would get over it. claire just didn't want sirius to stay mad at her. that was where she had always drawn the line. if sirius was incredibly angry with her, as she could tell he was now, she always began to feel bad and soon enough, she was apologizing. claire did tend to start fights a lot.
her mind was working on figuring out the girl he was dating, going through every single hogwarts student that was female and in sixth or seventh year. claire frowned, and then turned to sirius with an eyebrow raised. at the moment, her annoyance was gone and it showed. only her curiosity remained about who he was dating. and why did it have to be a secret? but she was surprised when he told her. well, much more than surprised, though it did make absolute sense. estrella malfoy. of course they couldn't tell anyone! her annoyance came back. estrella malfoy?! the two had hated each other for years. what could have changed between the two? she frowned. again. "oh okay, sirius. estrella malfoy and sirius potter, dating. it's a match made in heaven." claire replied, a bit sarcastically. her tone was only to cover up the hurt that she still felt. estrella malfoy. she didn't understand why, but she still was hurt that he couldn't have told her. she would have gotten over it eventually.---------------------------------------------------------------
